Quarter-finals confirmed as Men's open group stage comes to a close
Published On

The players of the Men's Open began their Soccer7sSeries journey with outstanding performances, plenty of goals, passion and tactical battles across the Group Stage.
Shanghai Shenhua matched their women's team by winning all three of their group games to head into the quarter-finals as the strongest team on paper.
However, stunning displays from fellow qualifiers Hashtag United, Coventry City, Taichung Rock, Vasco da Gama, Corinthians, QPR and Selangor FC showed there will be plenty of competition.
Corinthians looked an early team to beat with a 4-0 win against COSMO Select, but couldn't get past Shenhua who took an early lead through He Xin. The Chinese side showed great resilience and Corinthians couldn't find a way through – though they bounced back with a 4-1 win against PERSIB.
Coventry City and QPR both earned two wins and a draw in their groups. Taichung Rock boast the Men's top scorer so far with three goals for Jun-Sheng Tsai.
Hastag United came roaring back after a 0-0 opening draw, with comfortable 3-0 victories to top Group A. Vasco da Gama joined them with a pair of draws either side of a 5-0 win against Albirex Niigata FC.
Malaysian side Selangor FC rounded out the qualifiers for the Cup competition with their own five-goal display against Japan's Setagaya United.
Quarter-finals: QPR vs Hashtag United, Selangor vs Vasco da Gama, Taichung Rock vs Corinthians, Coventry City vs Shanghai Shenhua.
