Shanghai Shenhua take deserved Women's tournament title
Published On

Shanghai Shenhua Women beat QPR Hoops 2-0 to win the Women's tournament at the Soccer7sSeries.
Yu Jia Hui, who hadn't scored since her hat-trick in the opening game, rediscovered her scoring habits when it mattered most with two goals either side of half-time.
Despite a determined effort from the Hoops, Shenhua's victory was well deserved both in the game and across the tournament – a record of 18 goals for, two conceded and winning every game they competed in.
Eastern Thunder Women, meanwhile, won the Plate competition with Anupha Noinueai's goal separating the Thai side from Selangor FC.
In the semi-finals, Shanghai took just two minutes to score their 15th goal of the tournament against Hashtag United, before being shocked when United equalised immediately. Two minutes into the second half, Zheng Juayi tapped in her second of the game to retake the lead. Shanghai saw out the game 2-1.
In the all-QPR semi-final, QPR Hoops came out victors after going two-up quickly in the first half. Liberty Doyle got the first with her shot squeezing in off the post before Grace Stanley robbed the keeper and slotted home for her third of the tournament.
In the final, Yu got Shenhua's first by turning her defender and slotting home, before being gifted a tap-in in the second half – giving her five goals and a share of the golden boot with teammate Fu Yi. Yu was also named Player of Tournament.
With the final whistle blown by ex-Premier League referee Jon Moss, Shanghai Shenhua were crowned the first ever Women's champions of the Soccer7sSeries.
